ABOUT
Hello, I’m Melody
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me. I am a person-centred counsellor working with adults aged 18+ and couples, offering a warm, calm and accepting space for those who need support.
My journey into counselling came after a rewarding career in education. I have always been someone who people talk to – someone who listens deeply, thinks carefully, and offers steadiness in difficult moments. Training as a counsellor felt like a natural step, bringing together my life experience, personal values, and a strong belief that everyone deserves a chance to be heard and healed.
A warm welcome, a supportive space
Clear View Counselling is based at my home in Northaw, close to Potters Bar, Enfield and Barnet. Most of my clients prefer meeting face-to-face, and I find that sharing a space together helps build a natural rapport. However, I understand that online sessions may be more accessible or preferable for some people. Please choose whichever feels right for you, or a blend of both.

About person-centred counselling
Person-centred counselling is a well-regarded and widely-practised talk therapy for individuals and couples.
It is a deeply supportive, client-led approach, focusing on what feels important to you. My role is to be alongside you, as a gentle guide, helping you unpack your thoughts and feelings without judgement or pressure.
I create a safe space for you to explore your experiences at your own pace, make sense of your difficulties, and draw on your own strengths to find a pathway forwards.
This sense of self-realisation often feels profoundly empowering, enhancing your capacity to manage thoughts and emotions, find comfort and connection with yourself and others, and enjoy a calmer, more meaningful life.
THERAPY
Person-centred therapy is an effective approach for individuals seeking to enhance their self-understanding and personal growth. It is also well-suited to couples counselling, providing a safe, supportive space to be heard and to explore feelings together. Some of the key benefits include:
Improved self-esteem
Clients often experience a boost in self-esteem as they gain a clearer understanding of their worth and capabilities.
Enhanced self-compassion
The non-judgmental, supportive nature of PCT helps you to develop a kinder, more compassionate view of yourself (and others).
Greater emotional resilience
By reconnecting with your core values and strengths, you build resilience against life’s challenges and stressors.
Deeper relationships
As you become more attuned to your needs and desires, and those of others, relationships often become more authentic and fulfilling.
A qualified counsellor, with a range of life experiences
Before qualifying as a counsellor, I worked as a teacher, deputy headteacher, and later as a special needs coordinator. These roles taught me a great deal about people, emotions, resilience and the importance of compassionate support. I also learned the value of patience, listening, and holding space for different viewpoints.
I bring all of this to my counselling work, with a warm, steady presence – carefully listening, gently guiding, and fully supporting each client’s journey. Many people say they quickly feel comfortable opening up with me, and I deeply value the trust that comes with this. Clients often appreciate my calm, balanced approach, and that they can talk freely and honestly without judgement.
Professional certification, training & research
With my background in education, I am a lifelong learner, regularly enhancing my skills and knowledge with research, certified qualifications and continuing professional development.
I am a qualified person-centred therapist registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
